Codec and format support for VaaS/VIDINET

Problem description 

When acquiring media into your media supply chain being able to decode this media is essential to harvest any technical metadata stored in the format and codec description. One of the first things you need to know is of course if your current Vidispine API and Transcoder version supports the codecs and formats you are working with.


Summary

In this article, we will list the format and codec support in the Vidispine API 4.1 + and Transcoder including decode ( read) and encode ( write ) capabilities.

  • a verified and running installation of Vidispine API 4.1 with related transcoder and VSA - or later
